Summer 2016

Hello there.

I work as a children's book illustrator but also do a lot of teaching in schools and summer camps. I have gradually been collecting photos of the various projects that we have done and thought a blog might be nice way to showcase them.

I recently worked at Explorations Camp in Montreal and ran a program called 40,000 years of art.  We began with visiting the Redpath Museum looking at the Ancient Egyptian artifacts and came back to start work creating our own papyrus.

We tore strips of brown paper towel and using a mix of watery glue, laid the strips in a cross hatch pattern in about three layers. Once they had dried overnight, they were ready to paint.

The children used acrylic paint along with some gold and silver paint and I think that they are beautiful.
